A strong, collaborative team of creative minds from a variety of disciplines is part of the core of CanROC’s strategy. Together we strive to answer important questions about resuscitation science and prehospital medicine, adding to the growing body of knowledge surrounding health practice and policy.

I’m an Investigator at a University or Hospital – How Can I Get Involved?
The first step is to look through all of our Collaborators to see if your institution is an existing CanROC partner. You may already have an Investigator representative that can introduce you to the network.
Alternatively, check out our Governance for a listing of committees relevant to your interests and reach out to the appropriate chairs. Membership may be available to experts in their subject matter areas, or through CanROC’s Public Engagement Committee.
I’m a Student – Are There Opportunities to Get Involved?
At CanROC we recognize the important contributions that can be made by bright up and coming minds. In the past, sites have worked with trainees from undergraduate to graduate level, and across disciplines from nursing and paramedicine to engineering and basic science.
Trainees enrolled in graduate studies with an interest in research opportunities can review the various site summaries (listed by province, HERE) and contact the site via the email address provided. Student volunteer opportunities will vary based on the needs of local sites. You are encouraged to familiarize your with our list of Collaborators and reach out to the local organization regarding any opportunities.
I Work With an Unaffiliated Institution – Is There a Way to Access CanROC Data?
There is a growing movement being championed by research networks and government organizations towards the widespread sharing of clinical trial data. Sharing of data will assist in the advancement of science with less cost to third party organizations; a deeper knowledge base will be available for medical practice and regulatory decisions, and review of data may enhance patient safety.
Although there have yet to be any formal standards or regulations adopted, CanROC appreciates the possible benefits of data sharing. In anticipation of the release of formal guidelines, CanROC has adapted our publications policy to account for external data sharing. All potential investigators are encouraged to reach out to our collaborating organizations or committees to create formal partnerships. Otherwise, the CanROC Steering Committee will review all requests for data prior to making a decision.
PARTICIPATION IN WRITING GROUPS
For individuals interested in proposing or participating in studies using CanROC data please refer to the following policy excerpt:
As CanROC’s Registry is intended to be a resource for scientific discovery, non-CanROC investigators (e.g. data managers, analysts/statisticians, EMS representatives) and trainees (e.g., fellows, residents, graduate students, medical students) from any CanROC site may be included on a Registry writing group. Such persons must have a CanROC investigator “sponsor,” who also has membership on the writing group. It is the responsibility of the non-CanROC investigator or trainee to seek a CanROC sponsor. The previously noted limits regarding maximum number of authors from a given site remains the same, regardless of the member status (i.e., CanROC investigator, non-CanROC investigator, trainee).
