CanROC Site Summary – Prince Edward Island

The CanROC PEI site is a collaboration of clinicians and educators affiliated with the Paramedicine Programs at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) and Holland College, the Department of Emergency Medicine at Dalhousie University, Island Emergency Medical Services (IEMS), and Health Prince Edward Island (HPEI).
Through the Bachelor of Science in Paramedicine at UPEI, undergraduate students may complete a research thesis based honours degree. We have also supervised a second year medical student research project as Assistant Clinical Professors in the Departments of Emergency Medicine at Dalhousie University and Memorial University in Newfoundland. Current areas of research interest include: Mass Casualty Incident response including the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in prehospital triage, and paramedic critical interventions in prolonged transport of STEMI patients.
